This Is Why You Need to Wear Sunglasses
Since I'm a borderline idiot, I went my first 28 years without wearing sunglasses. Sure, I bought fake Oakleys in the eighth grade to look cool, but I never found sunglasses entirely helpful. I could squint my way through any bright days while avoiding the dreaded sunglasses tan. That is until I started getting a headache for 30 minutes every time I saw a camera flash. To this day, four years later, I still dread an indoor, low-light photo opp. It means I need an ibuprofen, or a stiff drink or two. All because I didn't wear sunglasses for the first 28 years of my life. Or so says my eye doc.
Sunglasses look cool, or at least they should, since there are billions to choose from. But aside from all that, why do you actually need sunglasses? Isn't it enough to wear a ball cap and shield the eyes from the sun, or just put your hand over your brow anytime you look in the sun's general direction?
I called on the expertise of ophthalmologist Lisa Park, MD at Columbia University Medical Center, to get some intel on exactly why sunglasses are important for us (apart from the obvious fact that you don't squint so much when it's sunny as hell). Heed her advice. Don't be dumb like me. It's always worth the sunglasses tan, trust me.
Park says first and foremost that there are three reasons we must protect the eyes. "The first is the retina inside the eye," says Park. "With age people can develop macular degeneration (which is the light-sensitive nerve tissue in the eye), and using sunglasses may protect these photoreceptors from UV damage." This prevents vision loss. Score one for sunglasses.
"The second is the lens of the eye; everyone eventually will develop clouding of the lens which is what you know as a cataract," says Park. "Protecting the eye from sunlight may slow the progression of cataracts." The score is Sunglasses 2, No Sunglasses 0.

Meet Coco and Breezy, the Designers Behind Demi Lovato's Favorite Sunglasses Brand
Twin sisters Coco and Breezy Dotson are known as street style stars, eyewear designers, dancers, and DJs — and that’s just the beginning. The Dotson girls have captivated the world with their one-of-a-kind style and unique vision. Now, at 26 years old, the sisters are lauded for their genuine personalities, great energy, and, of course, impeccable fashion sense.
Although they began designing their own eyewear when they were 16, it didn’t just start as a cute way to accessorize – it was their way of surviving. “Growing up in Minnesota, we lived in the suburbs where a lot of people thought we were weird, or we really stood out. Some people would stare at us or laugh at us, and we did get bullied. So, we always wore sunglasses to block our eyes to avoid making eye contact from the people who didn’t understand us. It gave us this level of confidence we never had,” Breezy says.
Prince isn’t the only one to take notice though of their talent. Foot Locker’s new athleisure store SIX:02 tapped the girls to design an exclusive line of eyewear, which came out this summer. “They’re so fashion-forward and they are at a low price point, but still such great quality because they are hand-made,” Breezy says.
They’re also stepping even further outside the box, designing eyewear inspired by Twizzlers and Jolly Ranchers for Hershey’s. That collection debuted in July. “That’s what our brand stands for: breaking the rules, we create our own rules, and doing these things with Hershey’s and Foot Locker really shows that about us.”

Ever since I picked up these retro Prada sunglasses, they have been on major repeat. I recently spent a few days in the gorgeous mountains of Deer Valley and these sunnies paired perfectly with all of my cozy layers. Now I’m dreaming of how perfect they will look when paired with a floppy hat on a warm, tropical beach!” (Note: June 27th is National Sunglasses Day, and Parcell is also loving these retro styles — shop here, here and here!)

These Old Styles Of Sunglasses Become Popular Again
Fashion styles and designs change easily nowadays. The fads of today could
easily be forgotten tomorrow. But the good thing about fashion is that the
things which became unpopular still have the chance to become popular again in a
few months or even a few years. Take a look at the various styles of sunglasses.
Aside from the very popular Prada frames, there are still many styles of
sunglasses which are popular today. There are actually a number of old sunglasses styles which are slowly becoming very popular again. Here are those
styles.
The aviator – This is, without a doubt, one of the most popular types of sunglasses in this generation. The aviator sunglasses used to be very popular in the fifties but it slightly faded into the background with the release of newer style glasses. But today, a lot of people are already wearing aviator glasses. This is the sunglass style that has a huge chance of being a fashionable trend for years, decades, or even centuries. Aviator styles for males are slightly rectangular while the aviator styles for women are slightly oblong in shape.
The flip-up – The flip-up sunglasses are also corrective eyeglasses at the same time. The corrective lenses are covered with shaded lenses and the shaded lenses could simply be flipped up when the wearer does not need them. The fame of flip-up glasses was short. It is a good thing that it is slowly becoming popular again.
The shutter – Shutter shades became very popular in the eighties. What is unique about the shutter shades is that they do not feature any lens at all. The eyes are protected from the sunlight by horizontal shutters. Probably the reason why the shutter shades did not stay popular for a long time is that they did not really provide real sun protection. But there are a lot of people, especially in Southeast Asia, who love to wear shutter glasses.
Oversized sunglasses – Today, people who wear oversized glasses are either labeled as clowns or comedians. But in the eighties, a lot of people found oversized sunglasses as very cool and fashionable. Oversized sunglasses were worn by both men and women. Oversized sunglasses are ideal for those who have very big noses. It should be noted that a lot of fashion lovers in this generation find oversized sunglasses still cool and fashionable. That is why there are still a lot of sunglass brands which produce oversized sunglasses.

Get The Latest Sunglasses Trends For Winter 2012
While sunglasses are usually associated with sun, summer, and heat, they make
a practical, fashionable, and protective accessory during the winter too. The
snow can reflect up to 80% of the sun's rays, making winter a challenging season
for your retinas. Sunglasses can not only protect your eyes from harmful rays,
but they can also make a stylish addition to your puffy parka and knitted scarf.
Early morning commutes can be made bearable by putting on a pair of high-quality
shades. Winter mornings are infamous for the sun's low position in the sky,
which makes you car's sun visor almost useless. However, a stylish pair of
sunglasses can make your long commute far more enjoyable.
Robert Pattinson knows how important protection from the sun is in the winter. He is often spotted sporting stylish Ray-Bans, wearing the Wayfarer model in his hit movie Twilight. Tom Cruise sports Ray-Ban Aviators often, probably because they remind him of staring in his thrilling 80s action movie, Top Gun. Brad Pitt, the object of many women's fantasies, likes to sport shades by Marc Jacobs in the winter, making him another fashionable role model for protective eye-wear.
If you're worried about looking a bit too "corporate," put your fears aside. RETROSUPERFUTURE shades are sunglasses with an edge. Available in many different colors, these sunglasses can add a touch of individuality and edginess to even the most conservative three-piece suit. Adding a pair of RETROSUPERFUTURE Paloma Crystal sunglasses to your work outfit is the perfect way to inject your personality into your business attire. As an alternative, you can try out their Classic Havana frames, which add a touch of Hunter S. Thompson rebel attitude to any attire.
If the brand name Prada puts you off because it reminds you of your girlfriend or wife's $450 crocodile skin handbag, take another look at the fashionable men's sunglasses from Prada Sport. These sunglasses can make you look and feel like a celebrity the minute you put them on. Prada polarized sunglasses come in a variety of styles that compliment any face, any outfit, and any sense of style. These unmistakably masculine shades are perfect for a day relaxing at a ski resort, or simply shoveling your front walk after a blizzard.
If you're looking for a sleek, edgy, futuristic pair of shades to don this winter, look no further than the Electric Knoxville Matte Black Grey Fire Chrome. A tongue twister to be sure, but these frames are out of this world when it comes to style. The black frames make the orange polarized lenses pop, meaning that you are sure to be noticed after you put these bad boys on your face. They are a stylish choice for even the most no-nonsense dresser. These shades will give you all the style and protection your eyes need for winter 2012.

Wearing Sunglasses All The Year Around Is Quite Necessary
Wearing sunglasses during winter in Toronto was a totally normal thing,
although frozen plastic didn't feel so good on the face, so when it was -21°C
and blizzarding I'd leave them at home. Don't get me started on frozen eyeballs.
Wearing sunglasses in England, at least where I live, when it's sunny but a bit
cool out will get you stares; there seems to be an assumption that when the air
is less than warm - sunny or not - sunglasses stay at home. And I live by the
beach!
I am an all-year-round sunglasses wearer. Not because I am a rock star, always hung over or get punched in the face a lot - yes, the latter two have actually been assumed by strangers. I have had to explain to people I don't know that I can't even drink enough to get a hangover in the first place because alchohol makes me so sleepy. And I had to lift my glasses to show a guy at the metro station that I wasn't bruised undermeath. Why? Because I was wearing sunglasses when it was overcast or cold out and apparently that blows some people's minds. I wish I was making this silly stuff up but no, I have to deal with this. I never leave my house without my sunnies because I have extremely sensitive eyes; I've been checked regularly since childhood and there's no medical reason, I'm just lucky! If I don't wear some protection I have to squint to see, I get headaches, my eyes sting and begin to water and well, I just don't look good either and when that happens everyone suffers.
Here are some good reasons to wear sunglasses with full UV protection, year-round:
• Protect from the harmful effects of ultraviolet exposure which can include premature aging, cataracts, skin cancer, burns on the eye itself, and other nasty things
• Reduce or prevent headache: intense sunlight can cause migraine, tension, and other types of headaches
• Help the eye retain moisture: by blocking the sun's light and heat, sunglasses can help keep the eyes moist by lessening the evaporation of tears
Sunglasses should also be worn when taking medications that induce photosensitivity, such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatories, so you don't get headaches and eye pain. And of course they look great, too! It's a win-win. I'm looking at some new frames to liven things up a bit.

Grab A Pair Of Your Favorite Sunglasses
When the summer season comes, and the sun hangs in the sky for what seems
like days at a time, you need a way to cool things down! Summer is the season to
get out to the beach in your favorite Hawaiian shirt and matching beach bum
shorts and sandals. Summer is the time to grab a beach side seat, cold beer in
hand, and enjoy a view of all the hotties in their little bikinis. And it's also
the time to shield your eyes from the heavy ultraviolet glare of our big bright
neighbor in the sky. Grab a pair of your favorite sunglasses and head outside.
Your magic shades have got you covered!
Men's Sunglasses
Men's sunglasses come in a wide variety of styles and fashions. From the classic Secret Service look (popularized in the early 1980's by films such as The Blues Brothers) to aviator shades to personally customized "crazy" designs, sunglasses have always been a standby fashion for men. Let's face it, as men we aren't exactly obsessed with fashion in the first place. Like our forefathers long before us, we tend to develop a few classic designs, such as the fedora hat and the three piece suit, and stick with them. Sunglasses are an item which men have clung to for decades, and it doesn't look like they're going out of use any time soon.
Crazy Sunglasses
What are crazy sunglasses? They're a style all their own. In fact, they can be any style that you specifically tell the company to make for you! From shades that mimic the crazy custom jobs worn by Dennis Rodman, to those which emulate the wild fashions of Lady Gaga, crazy sunglasses are shades which are fitted to meet your own personal design specifications. They can be custom fitted to match the precise contours of your face, and 3D printed with whatever individual design pattern turns you on. For those who crave the ultimate personalized experience, crazy sunglasses are the way to go!
Aviator Sunglasses
Aviator sunglasses have been a favorite item for men, ever since World War Two, when fighter pilots first stormed their way across the skies, keeping the world safe for democracy. Since then, these classic shades have remained a fashionable pro tip. What man can forget Tom Cruise in Top Gun? And, of course, their popularity isn't limited to the male sex, either. Aviator sunglasses have long been a guaranteed chick magnet! Of course, it's also true that these classic shades just aren't made to be worn by everyone. They do tend to cover up most of the face, which can be real problem for those who have smaller facial structures. However, for those who can pull it, aviator sunglasses will give you a classic cool look that refuses to fade with the passing decades.

Latest Fashion Trends of Sunglasses
Sunglasses were primarily designed to protect the eyes from harmful UV rays.
However, in the early 19th century, their constant use by celebrities made them
popular fashion accessories. Ever since then, several styles and colors of
fashion sunglasses have emerged. Although sunglasses are used for several
purposes these days, making a fashion statement remains the best reason to sport
them.
Through the decades, fashion sunglasses have undergone several changes to emerge as what they are today. Of all the styles that made a breakthrough in the market, aviator and wayfarer sunglasses have always been a favorite of many. Here are some of the latest trends that might give you an idea on what's in and what's out in the fashion world.
Aviators: The classic aviators remain one of the most popular styles of fashion sunglasses even today. The thin wire frame together with the large, slightly bulging lenses is what makes this style irresistible to the fashion-conscious folks. Although, originally developed by Ray-Ban, almost all brands have aviator sunglasses in their collection now.
Oversized Sunglasses: Oversized sunglasses are all the rage now! Most female celebrities are now spotted sporting a pair of oversized sunglasses. Put on a pair of these trendy sunglasses for that perfect retro look.
Wayfarers: The late 2000s have witnessed the resurgence of this modern classic style. A model that ruled the roost in the 50's and 60's, wayfarer sunglasses have gone through many ups and downs. However, they are now living up to their iconic status similar to aviator sunglasses.
Designer Polarized Sunglasses: If you are someone who spends a lot of time out in the sun, then designer polarized sunglasses are the ones for you. The single fact that they keep the glare away is enough to make them popular among people who stay outdoors very often.
Gradient Sunglasses: Fashion sunglasses with gradient lenses owe their popularity not just to their style factor but also to their functionality. Gradient lenses have a dark shade at the top which lightens towards the bottom of the lens. The lower part offers a clearer view, so these sunglasses may either be used while you are driving or even when you're indoors.
The above mentioned are just a few of the latest trends. Every year, numerous new fashion sunglasses are designed, some of which stay for a long time, while a few fade away quickly.

The lower part offers a clearer view, so these sunglasses may either be used while you are driving or even when you're indoors.
The above mentioned are just a few of the latest trends. Every year, numerous new fashion sunglasses are designed, some of which stay for a long time, while a few fade away quickly.

Glass is the traditional material lenses are made from, and while this gives you a high level of optical clarity, but on the other hand glass is easily damaged. Have you heard of acrylic lenses?
These are cheaper than glass and offer some amount of visual acuity. A much stronger material, with a higher degree of clarity, can be found in polycarbonate lenses. The substance provides optical readability that is fantastic and is extremely sturdy.

Expert Style Tips Of Choosing Sunglasses
Expert style tips
Choosing the right pair of glasses isn't only about comfort and usability - it's also important that your glasses look good. Your glasses reflect your personality, so take a few minutes to find out what suits you, and ensure your glasses look fantastic!
Face shapes
Everyone's face is different. The shape of your face will determine the types of style that suit you, and which styles won't look as good. Taking into account your face shape, you can select styles of glasses that will look their best. Our advice about face shapes helps you determine what face shape you have, and which glasses will enhance and complement your looks rather than masking them.

Choosing a frame that complements your face shape is one of the most important considerations when selecting your glasses. Our guide to face shapes and the styles that suit these shapes best will hopefully make that task a little easier. Our in-store experts can also give you guidance and advice on frames that will suit your face shape best. Here we list the seven basic face shapes, and which styles work with those shapes. Whether you have a classic 'oval' or a less common 'diamond' face shape, the right pair of glasses can enhance your style and make you look and feel fabulous!
Oval
An oval face with a rounded chin and forehead is the 'ideal', as this shape has balanced proportions. An oval face appears longer than it is wide, with the forehead being slightly wider than the jaw. To maintain this natural balance, frames that are as wide as or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face are the best choice. Alternatively, 'walnut' shaped frames that are not too deep or narrow also suit an oval face. However, ovals are lucky in that almost any frame design will suit them, remembering to take into account hair colour and complexion as well.
Rectangle
If your face shape is more rectangular, you may have a longer face with a square chin, quite a strong jaw line and a longer nose length. Large, square frames suit rectangular faces best, helping to make the face appear shorter and more balanced. Decorative or contrasting temples will add width to the face. A frame with a low bridge will help to shorten the appearance of a longer nose, balancing the face and giving the overall appearance of a shorter, more defined line. A rectangular face can look particularly good in modern styles that help to shorten the length of the face.
Triangle
A typical triangular face has a broad forehead - the width of the face tapering down to a narrow, rounded chin. The best frames minimise the width of the face's top and bring the overall look back into balance. Frames that are wider at the bottom will help to achieve this, placing greater emphasis on the lower half of the face. Very light colours, light materials and rimless frame styles can also help, so consider small square or rounded frames to achieve more balanced proportions for the whole face.
Square
A square face has a very strong jaw line and a broad forehead. Unlike the rectangle, the width and length are the proportionally equal. The aim is to soften the angles of a square chin and ultimately make the face look longer. Narrow frames with more width than depth can help to achieve this, particularly oval and round frames. Frames of this style can soften the jaw line, place emphasis on the eyes and lengthen the nose. Square framed styles will achieve the opposite effect, and look out of balance with the rest of the face.
Diamond
The diamond shaped face is the rarest of face shapes, and is defined by a narrow forehead, wide cheekbones and a narrow chin. Diamond shaped faces are usually narrower at the eye line and jaw line, with high and often dramatic cheekbones. The aim here is to draw attention to the eyes, giving this area more width and balancing the face. Frames that have detailing or distinctive brow lines will help to achieve this effect. Alternatively, try rimless frames or oval shapes, which will also draw more attention to the eyes. Diamond shape faces look particularly good in dramatic, outsize frames.
Round
A circular face with full cheeks and a rounded chin. The round face shape needs a frame design to make it appear narrower and longer. The width and the length of a round face are proportionally similar, with no angles for definition. The aim is to lengthen and give more definition to the face shape, as well as widening the eyes. Angular, narrow frame styles will help to lengthen the face. A clear bridge will help draw emphasis to the eyes and frames that are more rectangular and wider will balance the shape of the face, providing more definition.
Pyramid
The pyramid is an unusual face shape, although not as rare as the diamond shape. The pyramid has a narrow forehead that widens at the cheek and chin. The choice of frames for a pyramid shaped face should draw attention to the eyes - widening and adding emphasis to the narrow upper third of the face, which will bring the entire face back into balance. Frames that have detailing on the top half or are more striking in their use of colour will achieve this. Cat's eye shape frames will also have the same effect. The overall effect can bring the top third of the face into proportion with the lower third.
Hair Colour
In the same way you choose complementary colour clothes to suit your complexion and hair colour, you should apply these principles when selecting your glasses. If you have fair hair, softer pastel shades or transparent or metal frames will ensure that your glasses don't overwhelm your face. Black or brown hair works well with more dramatic frames. Our guide to choosing your frames takes into account this important factor, helping you pick the colours that suit you best.

The Birth Of Sunglasses

The next key event in the history of sunglasses followed in 1936 when sunglasses were polarized making them a safer product to wear when experiencing the gaze of the sun. This advance came about through the endeavours of the Army Air Corps in 1930 who developed polarized spectacles in order to protect pilots from the dangers of glare at high altitudes. The smart invention was the result of perfection of the special green tint that absorbed light which fell into the yellow band of the spectrum creating the polarized effect.
As a fairly low key phenomena in America and within the military, it was not until the 1960's that a chic sunglasses advertising campaign ran by the comb and glass firm of Foster Grant encouraged well-known fashion designers, as well as Hollywood stars to escalate the sunglass craze in the '70s with their brand-name lines.
In a relatively short period of time the giant sunglasses industry had been born where only a few decades earlier none existed. Much like how women since ancient times hid seductively behind an expanded fan or a dipped parasol, the modern woman discovered an allure in wearing sunglasses, regardless of the advantages of avoiding solar glare.

The Basic Components of Sunglasses
Sunglass serves as shielding our eyes from the sunshine apart from some other decorative purposes. Luminous flux can normally be adjusted by adjusting the size of the pupil when a person is exposed to the sunshine. As the sunshine is so strong that it extends the range of adjustment, it would do harms to our eyes. As a result, we should wear sunglasses outdoors to shield our eyes from the sunshine.

Today, I am going to focus on a brief introduction of the structure of the sunglass.
1. Tinct lens
The color of the lens of the sunglass identifies the range of spectrum. Each color of the lens serves as a specific effect. Usually, the colors of the lens include grey, yellow, amber, brown, green as well as blue. Let us take grey for example. As the most usual color, grey can reduce the brightness of light while losing the real image to the minimum. Additionally, grey lens provides protection from glare, making it the best choice for a driver along his journey.
2. Anti-scratch protective layer
Glass is naturally anti-scratch. For plastic, it is not this case. To solve this problem, sunglass manufacturers developed a series of approaches to coat the lens with a transparent and solid membrane on it. Through ionization techniques, the membrane on the surface of the lens is very thin and wearable.
3. Antireflective coating
Reflected glare is a usual problem for the sunglass. Reflected glare means the light going through the sunglass is reflected at the back of it to your eyes. Therefore, antireflective coating serves as reducing the reflection from the lens. Like anti-scratch protective layer, it is also a thin and solid membrane.
4. Anti-ultraviolet radiation coating
Ultraviolet radiation does the greatest harm for our eyes. A good anti -ultraviolet radiation coating can eliminate all of the ultraviolet radiation, giving your eyes the best protection. The extent to which the sunglass can protect your eyes from ultraviolet radiation is marked on the sunglass label.

Today, I am going to focus on a brief introduction of the structure of the sunglass.

The Fashion Style Of Sunglasses Varies From Year To Year
As we all know, a pair of sunglasses is a must to have for us to prevent strong sunshine in scotching summer and to protect our eyes in windy seasons. Apart from this function, sunglasses also enable us to look cool, sexy and stylish with its fashionable design.

The fashion style of sunglasses varies from year to year. The spectacles with avant-garde look are hot in the year of 2009. Taking Chanel Sunglasses of Spring Summer 2009 Collection for example, this collection includes 5 items. They were almost snapped up immediately the moment they were introduced into the market. Consumers’ eyeballs and hearts were captured by the progressive designs and bold command of colors. Golden sheathes of wheat were even used on the frame of one pair of eyeglasses in this collection to create an “eyebrow” effect. Unbelievable, isn’t it? However, sometimes incredibleness is all about fashion. What do you think if you meet a girl wearing such a pair of sunglasses in the crowd? I bet you will say that the girl is different, stylish and runs ahead of the time at the first glance.
At the beginning of 2010, Louis Vuitton launched its series of sunglasses. It started the turning of the tide. Maybe the artists were watching a nostalgic movie when Muse knocked. Maybe something they saw or heard brought the goodness of old times to them. No matter what happened, those trend setters thought we should have vintage spectacles this year so they launched sunglasses with big square dark lenses and colorful frames, which, we have to say, are really eye catching and flattering. If you know fashion very well, you will find that the sunglasses released this year by top fashion brands such as Gucci and Dior all came with vintage appeal. Maybe great minds also think alike in fashion world. Who knows? But you know what? This series caused a sensation among boys and girls, just as the avant-garde sunglasses collection of Chanel did in 2009. I guess that’s why people all say that anything may happen in fashion world.
Anyway from the stylish atmosphere going along with the sunglasses, we will know where the fashion trend will go this year. It’s the significant role that sunglasses play. So it’s safe for us to say sunglasses are wind vane in the fashion industry. However, no matter where the fashion trend goes, the one which works well for you is the one you shall choose.

There are many reasons that we wear sunglasses
There are many reasons that we wear sunglasses. They keep the sun out of our eyes, a fashion statement or even medical reasons. But keep in mind; you get what you pay for.

a pair of sunglasses can improve a person's charm. Every girl who wants to be more beautiful may buy a pair of sunglasses. Most stars like wearing sunglasses. When they are present at public places, they may wear a pair of glasses to make them look more stylish.

If you are just trying to keep the sun out, the color of any lens plays a critical role in the management of light. Different lens shades and densities make it possible to enhance or preserve the perception of colors, contrast and visual acuity and can aid in glare reduction & elimination of UV rays.

wearing a pair of sunglasses is a good means to hide the flaws on the face. If you have small eyes, you can choose sunglasses to decorate your eyes. A pair of XXL sunglasses can also make your face look cabinet. It's the most important reason why most stars like wearing XXL sunglasses. So we can often see Victoria Beckham always wear a pair of large sunglasses when she goes out.

What's more, you can hide your dark pouches with the help of sunglasses. If you stay up late the night before, a pair of sunglasses may be your wise choice. This is another reason why most stars often wear sunglasses.

Want a new perspective?

Want a new perspective? Let’s start with frames. Super-hot right now are large rectangular or square plastic frames in white (the new black), pink (fashion’s color du jour), purple (a ’70s flashback), orange or yellow (the choice of the super-trendy) and blue or green (very wearable for most skin tones). But why stop there? Lenses also get the full-color treatment, starting with the trendsetting look of a gradient lens that actually resembles a rainbow. You’ll also find new options in “flash” mirror-coated lenses (the “flash” lens has a more subtle, translucently reflective effect than traditional mirrored lenses). In silver, these lenses are called “ghost” lenses and they’re a best-seller, but you’ll find them in blue, green, purple and pink as well.
Even if you’re hot to hop on the latest sunglass trend, it’s wise to remember that shades are meant to protect your delicate eyes as well as cut glare and look good. Make sure your glasses have 99-100 percent UVA and B protection, and if you don’t see the facts spelled out on the label, ask the optician or salesperson to provide you with certification before you buy.
Like the latest jets, aviator sunglasses soar to new heights this season thanks to all kinds of nifty technical advances. The most modern versions feature barely-there, nearly weightless titanium or metal frames encircling wafer-thin lenses packed with the latest protection. Oversized shapes are trendy right now, but any aviator is a good fashion bet — they just radiate “cool!” Best colors are amber and gradient tones of brown (shading from dark to light), but you’ll also find them in green, yellow or orange metal frames with matching lenses. If you want to go with tradition, the “Can I see your license, ma’am?” mirrored look favored by state troopers is also, um, arresting. (Just make sure you’re traveling under the speed limit!)
The sculptural lines of aviator sunglasses are flattering to many face shapes. They’ll slim down a round face and they’ll also balance out a face when cheeks or jawlines are wider than the forehead. (That’s why those state troopers look so sexy!). Best-selling aviators right now include colored styles from Michael Kors or the more traditional but ever-popular Ray-Bans.
